Knight books Ebor date in style
20th July 2024
There were some great scenes in the winner’s enclosure at Pontefract on Friday as Territorial Knight ran out an impressive winner of the opening race of the Skybet Summer Festival, booking a date at York’s Ebor meeting in style.
On a perfect summers’ day for racing, TK as he’s fondly known amongst his owners, was very well supported by his horse racing syndicate, and they created a great atmosphere as he was led in under Tom Eaves, who was booting home another notable winner in the Hambleton colours this year.
This was Territorial Knight’s third start to date and he’s progressing really well into a very promising young horse now.
Well away in the early stages, Tom wisely sat just off the pace set by his market rival, before powering to the front around the home turn.
At that stage he was soon challenged by the big gamble of the race, First Navy Jack, but Tom and TK were not for passing and stuck on powerfully to repel their challenger, eventually running out a decisive winner at the line.
Looking further back there was a yawning gap of fully 11 lengths to the third horse home, highlighting the obvious strength of the form.
Our son of Territories cost just £25,000 as a yearling from the Goffs Premier Sale, a sale we have a rich tradition at.
When he joined us the dream was we’d be able to head to York’s Ebor meeting for the inaugural running of the Harry’s Half Million race, and that dream is very much on the cards now.
The strong level of form achieved by TK will guarantee him a place in the final field in a race which is as valuable as the name suggests.
Racing at the Ebor meeting is a great experience as owners and Territorial Knight's master trainer Kevin Ryan will now be setting his stall out to have him primed to run a big race on the day and, hopefully, bag some of the huge prize money pot on offer for his horse racing syndicate.
