With just over three weeks until the stalls open, the excitement is building all the time as the Flat season approaches.
Hambleton Racing’s runners so far this year have been in great form with Elements Of Fire and Lord Capulet already successful for their horse racing syndicates, the latter winning three races from just four starts.
There’s no denying that everyone’s excitement goes up a notch for the return of the turf racing and it’s exciting to see some of our youngsters shaping up well at home, like our son of Kodi Bear at Kevin Ryan’s Hambleton Lodge stables.
He could well be our first two-year-old runner of the season and forms part of a quality squad of young horses our owners have to look forward to this year.
Naming days to start
In the weeks ahead owners in many of our two-year-old syndicates will be getting together to see their horses at the stables on their all-important naming days. On these days the racing name’s for the class of 2026 will be confirmed and the pictures taken as the young horses take a step closer towards starting their careers.
Our first Stakes race action on the new Flat season is likely to provided by last year’s Listed winner Washington Heights, who seems to retain all his spark at home. Hopefully his owners have another enjoyable and exciting season ahead.
One of our new older horse recruits has already been successful this year and we’re really looking forward to seeing another in the shape of Mehmas Champion, who’s now fully syndicated and will represent us from David O’Meara’s Willow Farm base this year. Fourth in the German 2000 Guineas last year, he’s an interesting prospect.
Expect early action from top trainers
Pleasingly, we also have quality horses for our owners to enjoy with Archie Watson, Karl Burke and Tom Clover, with all three trainers expecting to saddle runners for us in the early weeks of the season.
Ahead of then, the Hambleton team are looking forward to our ever-popular annual Owners’ Day at Doncaster’ Lincoln meeting, which this year will take place on Sunday, March 29th.
The all-complimentary event is always one of the most popular dates in the Hambleton social calendar and our arrangements for the day are well under way.
As ever, Hambleton Racing’s Owners’ Day will see all our owners invited along to the races to enjoy a sumptuous three-course meal, along with some great fun, gifts and, of course, the racing.
A brief reminder of some fond memories from previous years appears below.
