David O’Meara’s Owners’ Day
9th April 2024
David O’Meara’s Owners’ Day proved an enjoyable day for all concerned as our owners enjoyed a morning with David at the stables.
Of course, Hambleton’s owners are welcome to visit David's excellent facilities whenever they like for a private stable visit, but this day represented a chance for owners across all syndicates to join us at the yard for a fun, informal morning to see all the horses.
The day began in David’s yard with luxury coffees and muffins courtesy of our regular coffee provider, who was as busy as ever ensuring everyone was well catered for.
Owners enjoyed lattes, americanos and hot chocolates whilst watching David's team prepare the horses for action on the gallops.
On a typical April morning, the weather offered sunshine and showers as owners looked ahead to seeing their horses in action.
David’s excellent owners room provided a nice base to relax in and as soon as the horses were mounted owners headed out to the walking ring where the horses gathered ahead of taking to the gallops.
Both David’s round gallop and hill gallop were in action so there was plenty of varied exercise to observe, giving owners a better insight into how David utilises his excellent facilities.
The equine squad looked in great form as they powered around the gallops, with three-time winner Churchella and two-time winner Musical Diva both in action as phones and cameras captured the action.
After the gallops and a relaxed walk back into the yard, David arranged for the horses to parade before talking owners through each horse’s progress to this point and what he expects lies ahead for them this year.
As ever, David's fantastic knowledge and hunger for success shone through as he guided owners, not only through this year's winners to date but also through some of the horses he's looking forward to seeing in action soon.
On hand to get the pictures was Hambleton's excellent official photographer Louise and John, an owner in several Hambleton syndicates, and an award-winning photographer himself.
The horses all looked in great nick with Twilight Diamond and Pastoral Way two horses to particularly catch the eye. Both are expected to debut in the coming weeks for their owners.
After the morning at Willow Farm owners moved on to the Waterfront Cafe at nearby Naburn for an enjoyable, complimentary lunch, in a beautiful location, where a lively atmosphere developed as owners looked forward to the season ahead.
David O’Meara’s Owners’ Day at David’s stables proved a really popular occasion again this year, and we've already had some wonderful feedback from owners.
Of course, the real action is on the racecourse and with several of the team due to be running in the next two to three weeks, there will be no shortage of action to look forward to as David bids to maintain his excellent start to the year for our owners!
