Looking back at June

1st July 2019

As we head into July we've just time to look back at June, which proved an eventful and successful month. Hot on the the heels of our private visit to Tweenhills to see Roaring Lion, there were some impressive winners and runners at Royal Ascot too.

The old boy Watchable has to take the plaudits. Nine years young, he rolled back the years with a record-breaking winning effort on Derby Day as he and Oisin Murphy lowered Epsom’s six-furlong course record.

The likeable Dandy’s Beano gained another win at Newcastle, Spiorad opened his account with an easy win while Magical Spirit also opened his account for the year with a well-deserved success at Ripon. He looks a young horse to follow.

In other news, two new horses joined us with Archie Watson and were quickly sold out while a new two-year-old joined David O’Meara, who’s already enjoying a superb year for us.

With many exciting two-year-olds and a quality array of older horses all due to run in July, our busy and successful summer looks all set to continue.

The month kicks off with stable staff awareness and now seems an apt time to reiterate our huge appreciation for all that goes on behind the scenes, on behalf of our owners.

For many years Hambleton have always tried to do a little something extra to acknowledge all the unseen hard work that goes on behind the scenes, and we'll continue to do so.

Racing just wouldn't work without its staff - the engine room that keeps the industry going.
