horseracing stalls open

Racing’s return date confirmed

16th May 2020

Racing got the news we all wanted to hear this week, with a scheduled date of June 1st confirmed for the return of horse racing in Britain.

The BHA have scheduled a meeting at Newcastle on Monday 1st June, with further fixtures set to be held at Newcastle and Kempton the following day.

The Flat season is set to gather pace very quickly with the Friday 5th June looking the first day to savour.

Newmarket are due to hold some outstanding racing which will feature the Group 1 Coronation Cup, re-routed from Epsom, backed up by further Group races, the Brigadier Gerard Stakes and Abernant Stakes.

Lingfield’s Friday card will feature their Derby and Oaks Trials ahead of a massive first weekend at Newmarket with the 2000 Guineas on the Saturday and the 1000 Guineas on the Sunday.

Haydock, Yarmouth and Chelmsford are also set to race in the early stages of June as the volume of fixtures gathers pace quickly.

This most welcome news has been music to the ears of our trainers who are now able to plan in faster work for the horses with a view to having them ready to go at the start of June.

In further welcome news for owners the BHA have confirmed funds have been released to try and maintain or improve the value of prize money in Class 4-6 races which means the vast majority of horses will be running for something like their normal prize money purses, and perhaps even a little more.

The stalls opening for the Flat season proper will be a most welcome sight for all racing fans to see on June 1st.

We're pleased to say the overwhelming majority of our horses are just a few gallops away from being ready to race for racing’s return date.

We’ll now be working hard alongside our trainers next week to make plans for the team and look forward to passing news of race plans on to owners soon.
