Sound back to winning ways

8th July 2023

Sound Reason was back to winning ways at Beverley yesterday, landing a nice prize for his horse racing syndicate in the process.

The son of Hot Streak, trained by Kevin Ryan, was winning the fifth race of his career on Friday, building on a solid effort when runner-up on his previous start.

Ridden positively by Billy Garrity, Sound was always well placed and looked likely to win well after leading over a furlong out, before idling slightly close home when he thought he’d done enough.

Thankfully, the post came well in time for this likeable tank of a horse – he’s one of the biggest horses in Kevin Ryan’s yard - who has provided his horse racing syndicate with plenty of fun and sport in his career to date.

With this latest win under his belt Sound Reason now looks perfectly placed to go on and give his owners plenty more fun for the remainder of the season.

It was great to see Sound back to winning ways at Beverley. He got a well-deserved warm welcome back into the winners enclosure, where Billy debriefed owners while the hero of the hour enjoyed a welcome drink.

We look forward to seeing this popular horse back out and racing soon. He’s likely to be seen next at York towards the end of July, where Kevin is planning to run in the Jump Jockeys’ Nunthorpe – always a fun race as some of the best jump jockeys around compete over York’s fast five furlongs.

Kevin’s good friend Brian Hughes, the champion jockey no less, is expected to take the ride on what should be another enjoyable day for his syndicate.
