Two naming mornings at Archie’s

14th April 2024

There’s not much to beat seeing your horse looking fantastic at the stables, add in some nice refreshments and a lovely lunch and you have the recipe for a very enjoyable day, which is exactly what owners enjoyed on two naming mornings at Archie’s in Lambourn last week.

The owners of Praetorian and Shamador joined trainer Archie Watson and the Hambleton team to name their horses in Lambourn on days we hope were memorable for all as their horses got a step closer to the race track.

On arrival in Lambourn owners hydrated with a warm drink or two before getting the chance to see their colt on the beautiful Lambourn gallops.

Both horses impressed their horse racing syndicates as they exercised in front of them, looking well-conditioned already which was great to see, with the Flat season just limbering through its early stages.

Archie had positive reports about both horses, who have both been pleasing him in their faster work of late and are thought likely to be ready for the racecourse as early as next month.

As the horses walked back down the gallop to return to the yard, there was plenty of chance for owners to see them at close quarters and take a few pictures before heading back to the yard.

Upon returning to the stables, the colts were washed off and groomed prior to those all-important and complimentary naming day pictures for owners.

After receiving some well-deserved attention and posing for pictures, the horses returned to their stables to enjoy their lunch whilst the syndicate headed off to the nearby Queens Arms for drinks and a delicious two-course lunch of their own.

The fantastic lunch was well received by all and offered the chance for Cosmo to announce the winning names from the naming vote.

Praetorian and Shamador were popular winners for Michael and Paul respectively, who both received a bottle of champagne in recognition of their efforts.

With our two-year-old colts looking so well and being so close to racing action, it's great to think that they both now have their racing names.

Both horses have some very interesting entries later this season and should soon be bidding to keep up the excellent results Archie has been providing our owners with so far this year.

These two naming mornings at Archie’s certainly proved very enjoyable. It will be fascinating to see how Praetorian and Shamador progress for their horse racing syndicates through 2024 and beyond.

Needless to say, the excitement is building for all concerned!
