Time to Meet the Lion

18th April 2019

We’re delighted to announce our owners will have the chance for a private audience with the mighty Roaring Lion next month.

We take great pride in the fact that owning in a syndicate with Hambleton is an enjoyable, social experience, both on and off the racecourse.

After a private reception, owners will visit Tweenhills Stud where a private audience with stars such as Roaring Lion and Charm Spirit will await.

Roaring Lion was crowned the Cartier Horse of the Year in 2018 after the talented horse won four Group 1 races back to back in a year. Possibly the most impressive of these victories came when scoring with ease in the Juddmonte International Stakes at York’s Ebor fixture.

The son of Kitten’s Joy won eight of his 13 racecourse starts, with another two of those wins recorded in Group company, plus three further placings giving him a most-enviable racing record over middle distances.

Roaring Lion certainly captured the public’s imagination when showing guts and determination to narrowly beat 2,000 Guineas winner Saxon Warrior by the shortest of margins in a couple of great Group 1 tussles last summer.

Since heading to stud in Gloucestershire Roaring Lion, who provides the perfect blend of tenacity and talent, has unsurprisingly proved very popular with mare owners.

This gorgeous individual is truly striking to look at thanks to his unique roan colouring and impressive physique, and with some of his covered mares already scanned in foal, excitement will be building to see his first foals on the ground next Spring.

Tweenhills stud is also home to Charm Spirit, himself a triple Group 1 winner over a mile as a three-year-old and he too is proving himself to be a valuable asset to the formidable Qatar breeding operation, having already sired his own Group winners.

After enjoying a coffee reception locally, Hambleton’s owners will be visiting Roaring Lion at Tweenhills Stud during the morning of Wednesday, 8th May before heading off for a complimentary two-course lunch. Like so many of our previous stud visits, it promises to be a great day.
